Revolver Records (June 2011)

I undertook a work experience placement at Revolver Records in Wolverhampton. This record label was established in 1982, and I was very interested to gain experience with a company that has experience working with The Stone Roses and Jane's Addiction.

At the time, Revolver Records were interested in pitching the idea of creating a radio station for Co-Op stores, and I was responsible for researching equipment prices, radio station playlists and also communicate with mobile phone app creators.

Riot Records

This was a record label that I created for a university project with a group of six other students. The aim of the project was to work well together as a team in order to create a professional record label, and to plan and put on a music event in Birmingham City Centre.

We all had our individual roles within the group in order to ensure that everyone was contributing towards to record label. My role was online promotions and I set up the brands Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and blog. My main aim was to create a company brand and to drive as much traffic towards the site as possible. I ensured I was using social media in order to start a conversation with our audience, rather than using it for static advertising.

Due to my online promotions, bands started contacting me directly who were interested in becoming involved with the project, which means my online presence was successful. We eventually showcased our talent with a music event at The Actress and Bishop in Birmingham on May 30th 2011. The event itself went smoothly and we generated a large audience.
